The Historical Movie Prize – fiction
Created in 2004, the Historical Movie Prize selection for the fiction category is prepared by François Aymé, general commissioner of the festival.
It is composed of 10 full-lengh movies dealing with historical, political, economical or social subjects.
For the time being, there is no such prize in France.
The selected movies are totally independent from the festival theme of the year. (for instance in 2009, the full-lengh movies in competition had different subjects than the main theme about the communism.)
All the movies in competition are presented in exclusive preview.
They are shown in original version with french subtitles.
Without being requested, the presence of the movies team is deeply encouraged.
The selected movies are projected once or twice. The awarded movies are projected once again the day following the closing ceremony.
An “outside selection” movie is added to the selections ans is presented a a closing projection.
TWO ESSENTIALS CRITERIA for the Historical Movie Prize to be granted :
- The aesthetic and cinematographical qualities of the movie
- Its historical interest.
